The clear stuff might be conformal coating.
We it to cover PC boards which were going to be used in
very humid and hostile environments.
Used xylene to thin it before it cured but after it cured only mechanical means worked.
Dremel with a wire or bristle brush seemed best...

Was watching an old rerun of Mythbusters.
Saw this episode where they used several 40 ft containers
to make a ramp for the JATO car.
I believe Scotty Chapman cut the containers to make the ramp using an oxy-fuel set-up....

I often go to local Harbor Freight store and look at what they are selling and how well or badly built they are.
Then I use their designs to make my project.
Don't feel guilty stealing their designs as they have been copying US made tools and equipment for decades.

I have used graphite blocks for molds and to hold small parts.
Did a quick tig fillet bead to see what would happen.
The bead had a nice 90 degree corner and didn't stick to the graphite blocks.
After brushing the blocks I didn't see any damage.

After making the clamp to hold the wires together,
I needed to straighten the wires for the legs.
I freely admit I copied this design from an arrow straightening tool.

Decided to make tomato cages for them as a thank you.
Little did I know what a challenge it would be.
Easy part was rolling the wire to make the rings.
