You are right it does sound like overheating.
Four machines with problems. It looks like your site or your work practices, cleanliness/covers when not in use etc, might be something to look at.

I read the Ford PDF and they seemed to be using a frame rail not channel.

Those pawn shop prices are terrible.
You can get new for that money at Home Depot, Peavey Mart or Canadian Tire. This spring I got a MigPAK 180T new for $450.

Very good post. It's a much bigger problem by the numbers, than it seemed initially.
