Upon closer inspection, that 110v cord runs to the 24v transformer, then to a relay that is connected to a sensor that is aimed at the wire spool. Evidently they were using the movement of the spool to control power to whatever was connected to the 110v cord coming off the back of the machine.

Millermatic 35 wiring oddity
I picked up a MM35 serial #JK656786. It was said to be in use in a production facility up until about 2 months ago, when they closed down. I don't know what operation they were using it for. Ziptied to the 220v power cord for the machine is an additional 110v cord that runs inside and goes to CR1 and...Last edited by thomas1; 10-20-2017, 12:34 PM.

It turned out to be the plunger alignment, causing enough of a bind to not allow the solenoid to work properly. I moved the plunger above the governor arm, like it's supposed to be, it works like a champ.
Now to set my speeds and see if there are any more issues.
Thanks to...Last edited by thomas1; 01-15-2015, 03:26 PM.

Am I correct in that the solenoid only controls the change from run speed @3700rpm to idle speed @2250rpm? So, no matter what, the lowest engine speed you should see is 2250rpm?

I checked the ICM per this post. http://www.millerwelds.com/resources...502#post263502
Should the solenoid pull the plunger in from the fully extended position? With the machine running in the run/idle position,...

Apart, as in disassemble the solenoid itself?
Or, pull the plunger and clean that and then clean the inside of the solenoid tube? That I have done.
I did notice that all the manuals seem to show the plunger mounted to the top of the governor arm. My is not that way. My...

Bobcat 225g solenoid issues
I picked up a 225g that doesn't want to idle correctly. When I switch from run to run/idle I'm not getting any change. I'm fairly certain my issue lies in the solenoid as I have power where I'm supposed to at the ICM.
I seem to have a bind in my solenoid alignment which I haven't been...

cruizer, I would just like to say thank you, for trying to help me get this thing going. I'm sorry for all the stupid questions and I appreciate you taking the time to answer them over and over.
Should I order anything else (156289, 173069, 035704, 130515, 097353) while I'm at it?...

Because buying a board will nearly double what I have invested in the machine? By attempting to replace the components on the old board I'm out like $3, it would have been great if it worked, but I think the risk was worth it....

What's the best source for boards? Am I better off to replace other components at the same time?
Thank you.

Resistor and cap replaced on the board, no change. Surprise.
The man at Miller mentioned the field needing to be recharged as this particular machine could lose the charge if it had sat for an extended period. He said to apply 12v to the capacitor with the unit running. I did that by...
