Bending Aluminum 7175 with heat?
I have a part made of Aluminum 7175 and one of the lugs on the part was accidentally dropped and slightly bent. Do you think I can apply heat around 180F around the Lug and bend it back to straighten it? I know it will cause a heat affected zone, therefore, I can heat treat it after I bend it back in... -

Well I do not weld actually, I am only trying to find which would give me better strength properties. Basically I am doing this project to look for any failures it may experience after welding.I am going to have welder weld this and a machinist clean it up. This is what I was basing my assumptions on..you can see filler A356 used with base metal 356 provides better strength and toughness capabilities than 4043....but then again this maybe used for the brand name MAXAL....idk I think I am just going to use 4043 since its been around more.

Filler Rod selection AL 4043 or A356?
I have a housing that is AL 356.0-T430....There is a crack on it. I want to know what is better filler to use on this Al 4043 or A356?
I think I should use A356 because of similar composition and I believe it has slightly better strength properties.
I think 4043 is not heat...
