what I would like to do would be to

have my generator technician friend check it out

pull the sheet metal apart
line-x the top cover
powder coat the front, back and side panels
re-etch the ID plate and the control ' steering...

appears to be a 500 A machine; weighs in at 1900 lbs

The material measures to be 2" SCH 40
What had happened was that water crept into the top section of the tower, dripped down the inside of the leg and froze in the base of the tower leg. Once the water froze inside the base of the tower leg, the ice expanded and caused a 3" long crack...

Does anyone have a favorite vendor for some weld on pipe repair sleeves?

Trying to repair an XMT 300 that had belonged to an old family member.
This is not the unit that is auto-link, it is the 240 V edition.

When I first opened it I found that the LEM board had a burst electrolytic, so I got a replacement LEM board from Miller....
