Well this is right up my alley.I use a syncro 500 with pure argon to tig cast aluminum.I weld it all day long.I repair and tweak molds for the plastics industry.Most of the work I do is in cast aluminum.Mostly a356 aluminum.

I got this tip for zirtung off of this forum and it works quite well for me!!!!

Always check the foot pedal connections. Even outside the box and under the wire casing!!!!!! A LESSON WELL LEARNED.

Update On Syncro 500 Problem
WELL GUYS IT WAS THE SLIDER WIRE ON THE FOOT PEDAL THAT WAS CAUSING ALL THE INTERMITENT AND WEEK ARC PROBLEMS. I ALSO FOUND THAT THE COIL THAT THE SLIDER CONTACTS IS WEARING OUT ALSO.
