MM211 and Diversion wiring question
So I have been wanting both a 211 and the Diversion 165. My question is about household wiring for it. Can either or both run off a typical 220v 30a "dryer" circuit ? Does either one need a 50a breaker ? I'm guessing my only other option would be to have a dedicated sub panel added.

sheet metal cert.
Hey I was wondering if I can get some tips on getting my overhead (galvanized) sheet metal certification.
I've been using an XMT at school to practice 18 ga. galvie (no gap), .035" wire , and running at about 16.9 volts and 163 WFS . Am I in the ball park ? What are the minimum parameters...

I didn't realize that the diversion wasn't out when that thread was going on . Obviously I am pretty new to TIG welding (I'm no expert but I have MIG, stick and oxy experience) so I dont really understand what one might need a pulse feature of Hz adjustment for ?

This thread kinda makes me have second thoughts on the diversion. It seems like everyone thinks its crap weather they've tried it or not. I know the thread is old but do these feelings still stand now that it's...

How about stainless ? Will the Diversion do stainless well ? I'm may be asking/hoping for a lot in the price range but I'd like to invest in something I probably won't out grow as a hobbyist not a professional.

Diversion 165 vs Precision 225
I haven't been here in awhile but I'm hoping I can get some input. I've yet to come across a comparison of these two "entry level" tig machines. I won't be doing anything heavy duty mostly hobby type stuff (car and motorcycle and maybe some minor chromoly chassis repair down the road)....Last edited by havik180; 08-06-2009, 09:50 PM.

For those of you who are garage builders/fabricators how or where did you learn to bend tubing ? Or better yet where can I learn (books, videos, websites etc.) ?

Thanks for the replies everyone !
The main reason I was asking about pay is because I live in the Bay Area in Ca. which is probably the most expensive place in the US. I just wanted to get an idea of pay to see if I could survive on the pay > I dont expect to be a millionaire...

motorsports fab/mechanic pay
I've been contimpalting going to a fabrication school with the intetion of working in the motorsports industry. My main interests would be for a road race , rally , circle track team or a high performance type shop. I'm curious about what the pay is like (lowest to highest). The school covers suspension...

making better mig welds
I'm still pretty much a beginner but i have tried just about every type of process . I'm ok at best , I don't feel comfortable doing any kind of structural work but that is where my interest lies (chassis/suspension)
So to some of the more experienced weldors here what are the most common...

Andy & Snow
With all of your expeience , what techniques do you use to weld tubing to tubing or tubing to frame (say rectangular tubing) ? I am taking some welding classes and as I'm sure you know everyone has a different opinion and method. Some say circular , C's , zig-zag...

stitch welding and chassis fab
I had a "conversation" with my boss today about the strength of stitch welds vs a stringer type bead. He was doing some MIG on a non structural piece and I jokingly said he was "cheating". Anyway he claimed that stitching was the only way to get a nice looking bead with MIG (out...
