I have welded my gas tank and I feel it was done in a safe manner. I first emptied all the residual fuel, and then flushed the tank with running water for about an hour with the water exiting from the highest point, emptied the water, poured in some rubbing alcohol to help evaporate the water, shook...

The turbos won't fit on either side of the V so I am going to place them slightly over the transmission. Similar to the link below. I have to run a scatter shield for the class I am in at Bonneville so I was thinking I could integrate the turbo mounts into the scatter shield, but they will be removable....

They are for a 3000GT VR-4, piping will be 16 gage 321. I haven't made them yet but the turbos will be positioned off the side of the engine so I don't want the weight being supported by the manifolds....

If I understand correctly you are saying to make a flange that replaces one of the half moon shaped flanges that is used to attach the exhaust housing to the center section?

Supporting a turbocharger
I am making some turbo manifolds but the positioning and weight of the turbos is such that I want something to support the weight of the turbo. I am going to use slip joints to allow for the expansion but I still want to allow the turbo to float so I was thinking of a bracket mounted to the engine...

Thanks guys for your replies.
I finally got around to starting on this project. Here are some pictures of where it stands now. I still have to weld the backer plate all the way around, finish the plug welds and then box at least this section of the frame.

Shortening a hot rod frame
A buddy of mine has asked if I would be interested in working on a frame for a 52' dodge truck. He wants to use a 84' dodge frame but needs to shorten it 21" in the middle and 9" off the rear.
I guess first off is tigging this going to be a feasible solution? The frame is...

Thanks for the input guys! I am going to get some laser cut flanges and try this out of mild steel first and then make a jig off that.

So I could cut say a 2" section and press over a die to make the transition, then weld my runners to that? 321 SS is formable but it will work harden, do you think it will need to be annealed?
I have also heard where it is better to weld the tube to the flange on the inside and...

Planning to make a header...
I want to make a set of turbo headers for my car but I have one major question. The flange that bolts to the heads has oval shaped ports, how do I get he runners to fit in the header flange? Do I squash it or press the tubing over a die to form it?
I plan to use 321 SS for the tubing,...
