Not really.
Most of the time, 4043 or 5356 will work.
You'd have to know the chemical composotion of the aluminum to determine it's grade, sometimes you can place it in a 4 series or 5 series depending on how flexible it is.

aluminum "spark ripples"
Have you guys ever seen the ripple or the "wave" that sometimes goes across aluminum when it's welded, looks kind of like a wave of sparks or something like that just rolling across a section of the aluminum.
I wouldn't know how to get a picture of it but it looks really cool,...

Good to hear, I've had some odd stuff happen when my foot pedal on my Dynasty 200 was acting up, was just a messed up wire and I got it fixed but it did some off stuff.
Had an odd problem the other day stick welding some rails into a trailer for a mod project, on a seam between 3/8"...

I poke back around here regularly, just not a lot of subjects I can help with.
I can understand that, I would think that checking your A draw on the breaker and seeing if it exceeds the rating would make sense as a first step as well, they DO go bad these darn breakers.

Ryan, Circuit breakers tend to weaken the more they trip.
Most are a thermal strip or something of the sort and due to the overload of amperage, it heats it up and it springs to another position, you can always check something simply, when it trips, put your hand over the breaker and feel...

I feel like I'm late to the party but I know the more upscale helmets miller sell like the Titanium (don't make it no more but that's what I got) the T94, the Elite and Infinity I believe all have X-Mode which relies on the magnetic field surrounding the weld to trigger the hood, I use it when I'm working...
