I have always concidered
8" pipe equals 8" weld
Then you take diameter X wall thickness + 20% clean up
8" pipe with 1/2" wall thickness = 4 hours + 20% clean up = (+ - ) 40 minutes
That would be for an Xray quality weld.
Thats what I bid my work...

Do you use push pull gun or the standard gun sent withh the unit?
I know you have to order the U-grove rollers

Al. Mig
Can somebody tell me the exact machine and set up to weld annodized Aluminum with a pulsed mig set up? I will be welding pipe together no open-butt, just pieced together?
I am not sure if it is the 350P with set up for aluminum.
Miller prferably but i am open to other rigs also.

If it is real bad you can go to the emergency room and they will put steroid based eye drops in and that will make you feel beter rather quickly.

That is a lot of steel to be cutting through with the torch.
Smith has a nice small set up that you can change the tips to accomodate a thicker cut. Any thick cut like that require a preheat on top and...

In NY. on the structural steel test NYC.
we have to use 5/32 lo-hi only.
It does not take to long to gring the backing strip off. if you get an 7" ginder it take not ime at all, When I ran some jobs for the power authority the welding inspector who was great if you knew hao to weld....

Yes the backing strip is ground off in order to fit it into the bend machine.
The inspector should tell you the procedure befroe you stsrt to weld.
Usually you extend the backing plate past the end of the weld the lenghth past is your preferance. you would use this extention...

It depends on the machine you are using I used pure argon with a 250DX Syncro
it takes patience and you have to get the setting right
On shed.40 pipe i used.
Pure argon 30-35 cfm
1/8 pure tungsten or Zirtung (just started to try the Zirtung)
