Remember those old Earl Scheib TV ads...."We paint so many cars, we make our own masking tape". As I recall, if you bought the cheapest paint job, they didn't use very much masking tape....hard-to-tape things just got painted over....

The manual should be available under the SUPPORT link at the top of this page. You will need your serial number. Use the box on the lower right to search by product name, then choose the manual for your serial number.

I can't help you directly with this, but it's possible there was more than one kind of engine--you will need to post what engine you have for someone to help you. And we always need a serial number to find the correct manual for any troubleshooting.
Also, most of the Bobcat manuals I've looked...

I think I can understand what they're talking about but I am not knowledgeable enough in that area to offer any opinion that I could say has much basis in fact. I do know that the power company doesn't like it when you mess up the balance across the three phases significantly, but again, not an area...

Very possible. I never leave a welder plugged in when not in use. If it's hardwired, at least turn off the wall switch/breaker. Not as good as unplugging, but better than nothing. And the lightning strike may not take it out right away, but it may fail months or years later, and you'll have no idea...
