What brand is that NR-212 you speak of? What voltage and wire speed is a good starting point for that? Is that a self shielded wire? Sorry for all the questions. I'm gonna have to order it because I know my lws isn't gonna have it on the shelf an isn't gonna know what I'm talking about.

What size would be best for the dual shield or self shield? I have used some Hobart Exel arc 71 .045 in the past. I have never used any of this big stuff this equipment came with. Is 1/16 or 5/64 overkill for what I need?

Whats your preflow set to? Turn it up and see if that helps. Probably not, but maybe... Mine won't even start up the HF sometimes for some odd reason. Done it since new. Seems like touching the tungsten to the workpiece and then trying again helps that.

Oh I almost forgot, the 60 series came with huge reel of 5/64" something or other. I cant read whats on the cardboard thing inside. How can I tell what it is?

Need some help setting up a LN-25
Sure has been a long time since I stopped in hereAn old friend gave me a LN-25 last week. He gave me a roll of 1/16 wire to go with it. He didn't know what kind it was. I have three power sources that I can use it with. An old Hobart Mega-Mig 300 RVS, a Deltaweld 452, and an old Idealarc 250. I...

I might take you up on that Billet Benny, if I don't find a reasonable price.

Magnesium again...
I asked about welding magnesium quite awhile back. This time the transfer case on my '03 Chevy 3500 has a hole in it. From my research, this happens to a big percentage of late model GM trucks. Anyway, my local welding supply wants $100 a pound for filler with a 2 pound minimum. I have searched...

Tigman250, I knew I was forgetting somebody. I haven't been around here much lately.
I think mine uses 1/4" rods. I got the torch and a whole box of rods for $200. I thought that was a good deal. The guy told me the rods were like $1.40 each. The box looks like it has over a...

Anybody have one of these?
I got a new tool today (well, it's new to me). I don't know the official name, but I've heard them called pin gougers. It's a torch used to gouge a hole through the center of a pivot pin in heavy equipment. Makes removing a seized pin much easier. Consists of a hose that connects to an oxygen tank,...

That gets on my nerves too.
I also hate it when somebody comes into my shop and sees me TIG welding something and says "You gonna weld that with a brazin' rod?" or "I don't want no new fangled war (wire) welding done on mah stuff!" "I want it arc welded with a...

There is no way I could get along without my K4000. I've had it for about 5 months I think?? I run it off of two Idealarc 250's. There is no going back after using one. I use it almost every day. It saves me huge amounts of time and oxygen and actylene. I got a pretty good deal on mine too. I worked...

I would love to TIG with 700 amps. Tungsten the size of a pencil. Probably have to have some water cooled gloves.

I'm not knocking anybody's trucks, or stirring up trouble, but I know of many 6.0's with MAJOR problems in my area. They seem to be very flaky.
What can I really say though. I have owned a few 6.5 Chevy diesels. To hear people talk, they were the worst engine ever built. I have had excellent...
