My XMT 304 died a few months ago, I cant remember what help code was displayed, my local welder repair guy said its probably to old to get parts for, is this true ?

I have the 30A, when running it off my older 14 pin machines I have to use WC-24, the new mig doesnt require the WC-24

I took my blown up XMT 304 that is probably 16 years old to get repaired, I told him that I had a blown diode, I heard some loud pops ( he said probably capacitors ) He said its not worth fixing.

To you or any others that need to know, I used to run my Dynasty 300 off my Miller Pipe Pro 304 that puts out a continuous 12000 watts, I would only use it to weld 1/4", so I never pushed it to see what maximum would do for fear of hurting either unit.

I'm a little hesitant as to the generator being big enough to run the welder, you certainly wont be able to max it out, watch out when purchasing generators, you need to know what it puts out CONTINUOUS, most generator companies will give start up amps for the surge required when a motor starts up,...

it sounds like he was just melting the root in good, pulling out to let it freeze and then going back until hes done. you can call it what you like but doesnt really sound abnormal..
