I am looking for any feed back on the miller auto darkening googles. Wondering how they hold up and how sensitive the are. Am considering using them for doing stainless steel tie in. But, I am worried that they are not sensitive enough to darken when you are performing "looking through the gap'...

No, perfectly normal. Unless it spikes drastically, then there may be a problem.

SAE-350 Will not create aux power or weld

Could be the shunt coils.
And I believe that machine is a Lincoln. Miller machines are big blue series.

I am not getting any voltage in lift arc start tig or when the foot pedal is selected.
Scratch start, stick and vs all seem to work fine. Any ideas on what may cause this and solutions?

engine driven welder

Mostly would be uphand with small amount of downhill. Was looking into the new Lincoln sa400i as well as a 97 classic 3 with tm27.

I'm looking at purchasing a new engine drive and was just curious if anyone has any input into which machines are more desirable then others.
I will manly be stick welding pipe so would like amperage to beable to burn 1/4 at times, will also be doing some tig welding as well.

No, it acts as inductance with gmaw, allowing you to have a stiff faster solidifying puddle to a wetter puddle.

How do you seat the brushes with the com stone? I always thought you used that to clean the slip rings or armatures

I have a miller alt304 and am not getting any response out of the arc control. Trying to weld mig with my Xtreme vs suitcase welder. I-10 produce the exact same looking weld with the same looking results.
Have tried many various setting and have come to the conclusion it has to be the arc control....

Cruizer, I was going by an older thread where you suggested the hz be between 60.5-61 on a vantage 300.
Why 61.8hz now?

I'm trying to get a hz reading using a Klein multimeter. I have a short extension cord coming off the ac receptacles and one prong in the hot, other in the ground.
I've tried it on the 2m and 200k selections and only get a reading for half a second before it reads 0.
Machine is in high...
