Question about process selection on Maxstar 150

Thanks for the replies.i did check the manual before i posted, but it didn't have my scenario listed. i also checked to confirm how to select the process-which was to hold the selector button down until it changes. i also tried just pushing it, etc.

When the unit powers up the stick mode light comes on along with the ready light, but nothing happens when the i push the processor selector switch(the stick light stays on). btw, all the lights come on when i turn it on so i know they work. I saw your comment that the esab st-23 spoolgun was "adequate" for aluminum. That didn't sound like a ringing endorsement. Other than the weight, what are the pluses/minuses of this gun.

I looked at a Cobramatic wirefeed and gun today and was hoping someone could help me out. It has "posastart", so the seller said it could be hooked up to pretty much any power source, including a mig welder

I'm limited to 115v, anyone know a good power source for it?...

I happened to be at an auction and found an older 300 amp Miller syncrowave. It had all the options. I always heard the syncrowave's were good machines so I started to bid. I got into a bidding war but stopped at $900. Guess what? other guy didn't go higher.

I found a Prince XL spoolgun on ebay. MK also makes Cobramatic, which I know is good, but anyone know about their spoolguns??

Looking at getting a spoolgun for aluminum, but was wondering if it will provide any advantages when using steel wire as well? In short, help me justify purchasing one

Thanks for the reply. It bird's nests really bad. I can about 3-5 minutes before it starts getting bunched up. I even went with a U shaped wheel, new liner, etc. I know some of the newer machines are better with AL, but I didn't want to buy a new mig and end up with the same problem.

I found a used Miller Econotwin HF for only $350 w/torch. I downloaded the manual and it looks good, but how is this unit for aluminum?
