I was thinking about the situation a why don't they do what the drag boats do? The driver is in a ejection capsule, This doesn't seem too much out of the question. One could have an ejection capsule with a parachute. Just a thought about separating the driver from the fire.

TIG welding Brass
Has anyone ever TIG welded Brass? If so what is the setup?

The owner does nothing in that garage. Jeeves the Butler does all the wrench turning and cleans up the mess. As far as the welding goes look at those white ceilings, Jeeves would quit.

You guys were right I checked the (so called Ground cable) and it was broken. So I theorized that if the machine does not detect a ground or work it will stop the plasma in 5 seconds to avoid burning up the consumables.
Thanks Guys

Yes I have a good ground, it does this regardless whether I am cutting or just holding it in free space.

Spectrum 375 problem
I'm having a problem with my Spectrum 375 plasma cutter. When I pull the trigger it will operate for 5 seconds then quit. I let up on the trigger then apply pressure and it will operate for 5 seconds then quit again. It keeps doing this over again. does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks Bu...

Re Moving the frame after a 4 point tack
I am not going to weld it out of the jig. I want to reposition the frame, let it cool, and clamp it down to get to some of the joints that are too close to the clamps. I was afraid the frame would tweak if I didn't weld it completely before un-clamping...

Moving the frame after a 4 point tack
I was wondering if you could move a frame (Dragster) off the frame jig after TIG welding a 4 point tack on all joints? With the jig I am going to use, I know there going to be some places that are going to be extremely hard to get to and I am going to reclamp the frame back on to the jig.

I run my 180 sd with #6 wire and a 50 amp dual breaker. I don't have that much problem, but I rarely go over 120 amps (tubing).

Re. Maximum Voltage Mig Welding
Thanks Mike,
The open voltage on the Thunderbolt is 75VDC dropping to 55 VDC at 100 amps. Acording to the charts this is twice as much as required. The AC side of the rectifier measures 55 VAC and this times 1.414 is 75 volts which is peak....

Repairing an old frame
Some time ago I asked about rebuilding an old Dragster frame and my responses were quite varied. I am also a member of chopperWeb.net and someone posted this page on frame repair. I think this holds true on cars as well Motorcycles

First I would like thank everone for the input.
I know the majority of you guys are welders and I admire that. I am an Electronics Repair Technician who happens to know how to weld. I have held a lot of jobs in my life and one of them was a Welder in a Ship Yard, in the 60’s, which was all...

SpoolMatic 30A with a Syncrowave 180 SD
I just picked up a SpoolMatic 30A Spool Gun and I was wondering if I could use it with a Syncrowave 180 SD on the stick weld position? Or does it have too much electrode voltage.
