I had a funny idea today. It has been SUPERhumid here for the last 7 days. And was thinking about my rod sitting in the shop.
I can't afford an oven nor do I wanna buy one!
What if I took an old green Coleman chest cooler, with the steel latch on it.... and glued up a little...

Does anyone have experience with the tweco weld skill auto shade helmets. I'm looking to buy my first auto helmet. And my Napa store has them on sale, $77.00 my cost. By no means do I weld everyday , maybe 10 hrs a week! Only mig and stick. .

Picked up 2 Lincoln pro cut 55's for $50ea. Both came withe 25' torches One is missing 2 PC boards. The other turns on, purges air but won't start an arc. I dropped them off at ARC Equipment in Youngstown for some diagnostic ! Wish me luck!...

I've always just used my 75-25 mix for mig welding ss... with good structural results. Appearance was a bit lacking though. the beads form nicely but appear rather dark and sooty looking. Also I've used ss rod for stick welding. It works good and is very easy to weld with.

There's some vague information out there, on this subject... but from what I gather... the push motor in the suitcase runs at a constant speed no mater what. And any wire speed or run in speed adjustments only alter the pull motors speed?!!?
Now I'm wondering... if because I'm not striking...

OK now... with board set to INT voltage. The run in speed knob is raising and lowering the wire speed at the gun drive motor. But the suitcase drive speed never changes. I want it set on internal voltage detection, because I don't have the external sensing line.
I thought run in speed was...

I'm not familiar with your exact machine. But isnt there a switch to keep it on high?! Run - idle/run off!! Sometimes what I do when I'm welding pipe is... tap the electrode on the pipe next to the joint just enough to get my machine To rev. Then strike an arc and weld the joint. Or the grinder is...

My 11 power wagon came with bilstiens and 3 are leaking oil @ 55,000 mi. Granted I off road it everyday in the oilfield. But still I never had shocks blow this early.

Shirt un- tucked. And you will shed slag like a roof sheds water. Sometimes if I'm scarfin bucket teeth off or making a lot of slag torching, I got leathers I wear over my boot laces ( my ankles are too trashed for pull on boots).

Question... my Hobart power supply in the fore-posted pics... the big dials on the front are for changing voltage out put! How does that translate to amp output.??? Amp output is what I'm used to.
And can this power supply be used as a stick welder?? I assume I would have to wire a switch...Last edited by dan-gerous; 05-23-2013, 06:00 PM.

Thats true they won't be working here forever... but he said he's single and un-tethered. Sounds like an excuse to get experience, see the country, and get paid to do it!
