I've personally had to resort to 5/64 7018 at times. It's slow but it works. You can weld 3/32 with a 15a, as long as it is the ONLY thing on the circuit. It's just not practical to shut down a whole store to use a circuit with 3/32. Maybe a cat battery on rollers and a big inverter...

rates
I will be down that way hopefully before may, I'll be sure to stop in and check out how you're doing(and the cool new truck). As far as rates go, I have to tell you it's a suppy and demand thing. Right now there isn't a lot of decent trades people in southern BC so rates...

flux wire
Dandimand: I believe it would be like SMAW, flat, o/h, and vert up. I think when you go down you tend to run over flux?? Trust me it is hard enough to pass just flat. Maybe our machines suck, not sure. If you're going to a trade school you'll learn all the tips to pass these...

cwb test
dandimand: cwb flux core is .045, on half inch plate. If you need the particulars on the coupon I can scan my spec sheet and post it tomorrow. I believe that this is one of the tests that they x-ray, I could be wrong though. I have the flux-flat, but will probably pass on taking...

Pass the gass
Gasses are quite the rip off in my mind. We're a dealer and it's ridiculus what some companies pay in bottle charges.
Coalsmoke: school is good, by the time I get a degree I should be stupid like some of the engineers I know! Congrats on getting the truck mobile...

7018 rod
hey coalsmoke, gotta love that Air Liquide eh? That is some of the best rod that I've ever used. We've tried alot over the years, our current is ESAB. I love this rod, they make a 5/64 7018 that welds 16 ga like popsicle sticks!! This rod is very smooth on the inverters....

Trailer mover
Years ago when I was a young lad, I worked at a trailer sales depot. I routinely moved 20-24 foot trailers with their hydrostatic Bolen riding lawnmower. People couldn't beleive their eyes! Backing up was hard though.....this was a flat lot also. Just a thought.

busy busy
Coalsmoke: Depressing, the trail out to my shop isn't even shoveled. We're busy at work(OT), couple that with my school
, my 12 week old daughter
, and that's my day. Also, I probably drove by your house last weekend, I was at UCFV(stayed in Twassasan). Scheduled...

home made wood stoves
One thing I'd like to add, about homemade wood stoves, in general not a good idea. My insurer was giving me a "grey" answer when questioned about having a non-certified stove in a detached shop. My detached shop is less than 50' from my house. His concern...

gasless wire
actually, the gasless wire probably isn't the best choice over stickI've only used the gasless wire once, once was enough. It just requires too much amperage down low to burn.

manifold
I fixed one as well, it was ss. If I remember corectly it was dissimilar, in other words half ss/half mild steel. They actually have an updated replacement part for this, it has an expansion joint in it. With the joint it resists cracking during cooling/heating cycles.We...
