I have TIG welded aluminim AC with very nice results.
Why is it important to use 100% Helium when DC welding Aluminum as opposed to say...THE25?
Also, what do you mead by patience? Is it slow to puddle?

A few questions about the Bobcat...
I'm thinking of purchasing a Bobcat 225.
I'll be stick welding and TIG welding steel and aluminum(up to 1/2")
Is this a suitable rig for welding this size aluminum?
What is the apporximate cost of this rig?
I was quoted just under $3400 for the Trailblazer and was hoping...

I am usually running at 150a or less. AC bal at 50%( most of the time)
My gas is set at 20cfh.
I've never used any other than pure or Thoriated.

Tungsten problem
I am having a problem with my tungsten. (2% thoriated)
It keeps developing several small burrs when welding.
they look like this:

On the end of the tungsten.I am welding cast aluminum that is pretty thick so pure tungsten wont work. (Boils off)...
