If you are welding with that plate on a steel table the table could suck the heat out faster then you can put it in try to insulate the parts from the table. I've had a problem like that and insulating it fixed my problem

I have an Air Vac System built in Cedar Rapids Iowa. This thing works great for everything I can stick weld in my garage and this will keep it filtered. trailer tongue lenght
I'm working on building a new trailer for hauling my 4 wheeler and a friends around. I have the 60/40 rule for axle placement but is there a rule for trailer tongue length.

mild steel to stainless
When welding stainless steel to mild steel is 308 rod better or wirefeed better. You should use stainless rod over steel rod to right?

Sandpaper flap discs work great. Course ones to start fine to finish. If you can't find those you can use a regular grinding wheel but cover the wheel and weld with crisco shortening this will keep the wheel from plugging with aluminum. Sounds weird but I do it all the time on my surface grinder and...

I use clear plexiglass on my mill bed. Bolting a plate on your table will collect moisture that you can't see and rust your table very fast and you won't even know it. The plexiglass has been on my mill for ten years and works great

pipe welding rollers
I do alot of purge welding for the dairy industry and am looking for ideas for making rollers to spin pipe on so that i dont have to start and stop all the time. I know that bearing's are no good because of the arcing that can happen internally. Just looking for ideas that might be out there.

carbon rods
I have used carbon rods to fill worn out hitch pin holes. Put the carbon rod in the hole and weld around till the hole is full to your standards and pull the rod out and you have a perfectly round hole you dont have to try and drill
