How about fluxcore vs stick? (fcaw vs smaw?)

yep, I got some of that on my cup. Probably from stirring the puddle with the tungsten...Haven't noticed any I'll effects and I'm waiting for some gas lens parts at which point I'll replace it...

You gotta love wikipedia.
Glenn's reference to 110v "I have several adapters starting with an L6-30 female to whatever as needed (a 110 male plug, etc)." threw me off--X and Y are interchangeable as hot for 230V 1~....

ACHTUNG!!! I don't know if you are using 115V or 230V BUT if you are using 115V the black and white wires are NOT both hot--black is hot, white is neutral. You risk electrical shock or equipment damage if you switch these.
If it is 230V then white and black are both hot. To avoid confusion,...

My thoughts exactly. And I'd use 230V if your gen. has a terminal for it and can handle the amps. Might require constructing an adapter cable....

The 300 should have "Auto-Link" which allows you to connect to 1 or 3 phase. Inside the welder where you hook up the power cable will be 3 "line" connections (your empty crimp connectors) and one to ground (green). If you want to wire it up single phase just hook up your conductors...

It will weld those metals and thicknesses just fine. Extended welding at higher amps and you will find the torch can get hot.
Sounds like a VERY GOOD deal! Sadly, some people have found they need to "liquidate" unused items, including tools, to pay their bills. He has advertised...

First, hit "Resources" at the top of this page and get yourself an owner's manual (pdf file). You might need the serial number off the 300 to get the correct manual. It will give you a wealth of info and is required reading.
The OM will tell you about wiring and what to use....

If you have the spoolgun connector plug next to the MIG gun connector plug on the front of your machine, then your 185 should be SM185 or 3035 "plug and play". I don't believe there are any switches. Use the MIG gun or the spool gun just by pulling the trigger. The SM100 requires that you...

I like denatured alcohol. Like many solvents, it is flammable and not good for you if you breath it, get it in your eyes or absorb it through your skin. But I like to think it is less toxic than other solvents, not very expensive comparatively and doesn't leave any residue.
PS: Last time...

It is still not a Passport Plus BUT I wouldn't mind saving several hundred $ with this thing...

Thanks for your input, Rail.
Regarding Lemonade, and I'm not sure other manufacturers don't have this problem as well, is the price Miller charges for circuit boards. And I'm not just thinking the MM350p above, I'm thinking other models I've heard had costly boards. Weren't there...

UPDATE: Talked to someone at Miller this morning.
Thanks for the history, Big.
A guy at Miller Tech Support gave me info on "upgrading" the welder I may buy--the two circuit boards required totalled $1350!He was elaborating on the differences...
