I know this is a blast from the past, but I just did this mod to my 3035 gun and am SO HAPPY with it's performance now. I was getting terrible burn back on 1/8" square tubing and this mod not only fixed that problem but the weld appearance is so much better and appears to give much better penetration...Last edited by csedan510; 02-22-2016, 03:37 PM.

Thanks again Kevin for the suggestions. I'll be tearing into it this weekend, family permitting.
-Low amp output (on highest peg can only manage 1/8" material)
-Sizzling sound during welding
-Eratic arc

What kind of car?
A number of the better cages I have seen use 2" (or tubing diameter) holes in the floor to "feed up" the tubing, this also allows you to weld the tops of the joints and keep it tight to the roof line, B pillars etc.. Holes are then filled and covered with the mounting...

In theory, I like the concept but those taller bottles I would want to support from higher up too.
It is also a bit scary in the event of a rear ender...

I have a Porter Cable and I'll be looking for some mounting holes tomorrow. I love the saw, btw, I have had it for 10 years and have had to do nothing to it but change the blades.

Millermatic 35 troubles...
I have been experiencing very low amperage out put with my welder, I had just had 220 service put in my shop so I initially cursed my electrician, but I plugged in my Syncrowave 250 and it worked fine. I checked the plug on the 35 and noticed the ground prong had broken off. I tigged it back on using...Last edited by csedan510; 02-29-2012, 05:06 PM.
