If it's the new Miller headgear it's just a bad design. It's very comfortable but the shield perpetually falls down. I've had it for so long now I've learned to work around it, and have the knobs very tight.

The m100 gun is not your problem. Based on your questions I'm gonna guess you need more practice. What kind of settings, gas, wire, base material, are you working with? Sounds like you might have the wrong drive rolls, wrong polarity or wonky voltage and feed settings.

Yep you can get the copper backer spoons from harbor freight even.
Once you get the hang of mig welding you will see there is no need for a "jig" to position the torch. You will simply hold it and do it. I would definitely rather have a good view of the puddle, and brace my hands...Last edited by Cgotto6; 09-18-2015, 07:07 AM.

Nobody wants to be the best welder in the world, but be 200lbs overweight. Gotta have balance just like everything else. So it's shop and sports of course. Followed up with some hot rodding at home with pops to get some mechanical in there.

Engine driven compressor and a pm45 would be a nice set up for mobile. Depending on your work, the pm30 may be under powered.

4'x8'x 1/4 or 3/8 is gonna be a little heavy to carry by your self. Not so good for mobile use....

6-50 is fine for all of those machines. Converting your single phase to three phase will actually waste a small amount of energy, thus nullifying power savings. You need three phase pole power to get the most out of it economically. I would say to get the 350 now and run it in your 50 amp breaker, possibly...

As portable welder said, use a hammer drill, not a roto hammer. They have more frequent blows per minute with less force per blow. Perfect for drilling countertops, tile, or in this case fragile Crete.

For aluminum you need continuous, and AC. What machine are you using? Settings? Material thickness?

Is keeping the reset procedure a secret to combat theft of these things, or to is the lock out to keep operators from messing with settings? Just curious as I have never worked with a feeder like this.
