Thanks for all the help on this issue. I looked closer into the wire and it was blackish in color and tarnished some what for the first 18" from the work clamp end. Alone with the work clamp was in bad shape. So I replaced the clamp with a brass one as suggested and replaced the wire and wire end...

Hey 1997CST........ Thanks so much for the reply. I gust got out my shop. I took apart the gun to look into what you suggested. While doing this is noticed that their is a brass nut that holds the contact adapter in place. That nut had backed off some and that where the play was coming from. So thanks...
