Plans
The backhoe plans are available at www.cdp-backhoe.com. I liked his design the best and it was reasonably priced. There are a few others out there also, try doing a Google search on "backhoe plans" or "towable backhoe".

thanks!
Thanks for all the words of encouragement. Right now I am in the process of building a small skidsteer loader. I will start a new thread for that. I am building it as I go, no plans.

Cost/Time
The total cost came in around $2500 I think. Most of the cost is the hydraulics and motor. Once I had all the brackets made it took me about 3 weeks of steady work to put it together. I did the brackets on and off over a few months. At I regular "hobby" pace I could...

My Homemade Backhoe
Well there has been some interest in a few of my projects so I decided to start a new topic for each. This way each project is separate. This is the CDP backhoe I built a while ago. I bought plans for it.

My Stuff
Mac, you are correct, the machine is light weight. I find this a plus. Sometimes if you have very hard soil it takes a bit to get started. Once you "break" the ground, it dig very well. I don't have anything to compare it to though. I have only used my backhoe nothing...

Miller Tech support
Well I am a little late on this one. I just came across this thread, and it took me a while to read. Anyways, I am far from a pro welder as most of you here. I just work on my own projects in my garage. I have a Millermatic 210, syncrowave 180 and a spectrum...

backhoe
Thanks for the replies and encouragement! Well you tow the machine to the jobsite with your vehicle. There is a trailer hitch just like a trailer. Once there, the wheels are moved to the back where the motor is and the stabilizers to the boom end. To move it simply pick up with...

frame
Looks great! I did 2 cars, a 79 Malibu and a 78 Regal. One suggestion I would make for the frame section is to add another tube above the main crossmember to act as a driveshaft safety loop. You could also add 2 vertical bars from the maincross member to the upper tube also. There...

Malibu
Hi There, I actually never completely finished the car. I decided to buy a house and had to clear some of my toys. I do have some other pics. I will see what I can dig up. I did get some from the guy that completed the car but I am not sure where they are. I loved the car, I wish...
