Welder's Commandments?
A number of years ago I saw a list of "Welder's Commandments" hanging in a shop - sort of a tongue in cheek thing. Was searching the web a bit to see if I could turn it up, but no luck. Anyone seen it?
As I said, sort of tongue in cheek but actual lessons. The one I remember...

I upgraded my Powermax 1100 to the RT80 torch - which is similar to the torch on the G3 machines. I can cut over 1" cleanly and then switch over to the FineCut consumables and cut sheetmetal just as cleanly. You might want to look into those for your 1000....

As others have said, good to read through this just to know I'm not alone...
My grandfather used to say "He's so educated he's lost all his common sense..." Ain't that the truth!

I got lucky and came across a CompostTumbler in the local classified ads for free. It does work very well. I'd say you could probably put together something very similar with a 55 gallon drum.

Yep, I've watched the DHL driver toss boxes from the street up onto my neighbor's porch - bounce off the wall and hit the floor and roll back to the railing......

Sounds like for your project (boat docks) you could go either way. But consider what else you may be using it for.
A spoolgun is great for production work with a long, easy to access weld. But I'd never attempt using a spoolgun for something like a bicycle frame...
