I felt I owed this to the board to talk about the updates on my situation. I spoke to one of the TIG technicians at Miller directly off an on the week of 11/14. We chatted about the situation, exchanged info, and discussed nest steps, etc. On 11/17, it was confirmed that they had the interconnect...Last edited by kjlindgr; 11-27-2011, 08:22 PM.

I don't want to start a witch hunt, I just want a working welder. I am just an individual so I don't have deep pockets. Spending $2000 on a repair hurts...spending $5-10K on an upgraded model in search of reliability will cause me to question my brand loyalty. I need a welder I can rely on, not a...

I've got a Fluke multimeter at home that I think would cover the needs for some simple troubleshooting.

Savvy might be a little much, but I know what a capacitor, resistor, and PCB look like. I don't want to turn my problem into your problem, but if you are willing to help, I would certainly be appreciative of the support. My worst fear is that I have to replace all the boards in the machine in order...

Okay, here's the latest. I called up Miller technical support and talked to one of their techs. They said that the cost of these repairs isn't "inconceivable" and they echoed a lot of what Airgas had done in that they said that a lot of the time it's hard to diagnose the issue until you...

My last call with the Airgas repair guy put me off on this a bit. The fact that they didn't estimate the work correctly the first time and ended up doubling their original quote before the work even began irritated me. Then, they said that the board #3 that needed to be replaced "checked out",...

I was originally quoted $761 for two boards (PN: 204821, 207822) plus $220 labor. At that time, the bill was $988 so I said "go for it" and repair the welder. They ordered up the parts and finally opened things up today. I just talked to the repair guy today and he said upon opening up...Last edited by kjlindgr; 11-15-2011, 09:17 PM.

Yeah, I can put it up on eBay I guess. No harm in that and I'm sure someone more savvy than myself could fix it cheaper.
I bought the welder from Airgas here locally and it was a refurbished welder from Miller. It worked great over the years, but since it wasn't "new", the...

Dynasty died...need some suggestions
Hey all,
I'm a bit down on my luck here and pretty bummed about it. I'm a long-time Miller owner and have had my share of MIG, TIG, and plasma machines...all in blue.Well, as things would have it, my Dynasty 200DX died just a couple weeks ago. I fired it up one day and it gave...

I did some playing around with the programming settings on the welder last night. I increased the HF start time a bit but didn't touch the start polarity or start amperage settings. It didn't seem to make much of a difference.
My AC settings are:
Positive polarity start

It doesn't bother me much, I just am glad to know that it's not a machine issue.

Dynasty 200DX arc starting?
Hey all. I just picked up a Dynasty 200DX to replace my Syncrowave 180SD. My Syncrowave was always a fantastic machine but I wanted some of the fancy features that the new inverters had.
Anyway, I noticed that when using the high frequency start (not the lift arc), I have to be REALLY...

Thanks for the tips guys. I've tried rocking the pedal before to get in and out without heating it up too much but maybe I need to get out of it even more. I've welded enough stainless and tried enough techniques but they all seem to turn out grey and cruddy looking to me. They hold great, but they...
