I was welding 1/8" and the fit was not that good. I haven't tried welding sheet metal yet.
My balance was 70 to 75 while using 5356 filler and 80 to 85 for 4043 filler....

This it what I have been doing too.
On fillet welds, I have been using 150 Hz, however, after testing the joints I discovered that there was no root penetration (but at least the welds looked pretty). I am planning on cranking up the freq. to 180Hz or possibly 200Hz....

That last thing that comes to mind that everyone seems to mention - are you sure that you have a clean dry air source (any air filters/dryers between the compressor and plasma)? I just noticed that your location is Hawaii. Your proximity to the ocean probably makes an air dryer a necessity.

Well, I am most definitely not the most qualified to be giving advice, I have been cutting quite a bit of 1/8" aluminum (mostly straight strips using a guide). From my experience it seems that the balance between amps and travel speed is key. Basically you want to move the torch as fast a possible...

ring/roll bender help
I am looking for a fairly economical bender capable of bending (large radius) 1/8”x1.5” flat stock (should be simple – right?). Since I do not want to spend a fortune I am looking for a manual bender. So far the only ones that I have come across are:

Vanishing posts, Locked threads - advice for admin/mods
Well here we go again… I wasn’t going to comment on the recent drama, however, I believe that a few simple changes to this forum’s policies would go a long way towards helping (I know - less than 20 posts, who do I think I am to give advice about site policy)
Let’s start with...

I concur. I bought some 1.5% from the LWS (at nearly 3x the cost of 2% from arc-zone, but I didn't want to wait for the order) and it held up pretty good, but the 2% is better. With 2% you will likely not have to regrind the tungsten unless you dip it or otherwise mess up the tip. Arc...

It seems that things have been pretty well covered, but I figured that I would chime in if for no other reason than to increase my post count.
It has been metioned several times already, but I throw in my recommendation for 2% Lanthinated tungsten. I haven't looked back after trying...Last edited by grumpy42; 08-05-2007, 02:49 PM.

I realize that you can certainly extend the Dynasty 200's capabilities by using methods such as preheating or using helium. My point is that I think there is a market and a need for portable tig machine with a little more power. I have been thrilled with the performance of the dynasty (although my...

I don't think that is a viable option for many people (especially hobbyists). One of the main features of the dynasty that won me over was its portability. At 378lbs, the Syncrowave 250 is just too massive. The Dynasty 350 is 135lbs (not exactly portable but quite manageable) and if I remember correctly...

Thanks for the advice.
It looks like I need to be more meticulous when it comes to prepping for aluminum welding. I guess I got a little spoiled by some super clean 4043. I will look into getting some scotchbrite pads.
Thats just nutty

I don't know how long the filler was sitting around at the LWS (it has been sitting around here for about a month). I don't have any scotchbrite pads - will steel wool work?
Thanks...
