I have a SPECTRUM 375. It has always been hard to adjust the air pressure.
Today the torch would not fire. The pressure was (I thought) right at 60psi.
I could not get knob to move....even with channel locks!
I took the cover off.....figured I take apart...

Just pulled up the manual, section 3 (specs) indicate that a max of 63 amps (@ welding voltage) is all you will get. If you increase the output you will just blow a breaker. Don't constantly weld on the verge of blowing...

Physics lesson needed.....abrasive cut off performance
Often when cutting off larger thicker steel with an abrasive (made for steel) 14" cut off the sparks and cutting stop and the steel gets hot.
I can detect the the "blade" is hot but only for a very short time.

Could what you need gone is mill scale?
Hard to take off with hand grinding or sanding operation unless the grit is REALLY course.
I know you said no chem, but I have had great luck with Muriatic Acid, get it from concrete supply 28%. Dose take time.
