  • I just pulled the wheels off my HTP2400 last week. I weld on my tailgate alot with my Champion 10,000...all I do is make sure the grounding nut is attached to the copper wire going into the bed of my Dakota.

I've been considering putting a lifting eye on my '2400....at 212 pounds it isn't...

    Passport/3035 Combo?

Does anyone know if a 3035 SG will work with a Passport or something similar? I love my HTP2400 but about 90% of my work is outdoors in remote areas and I'd like something easier to pack around than 250 lbs of MIG machine. In an optimum world I'd buy a 100C contactor but I've been told that my Champion...

    Update Please

Just wondering how you were coming with your 1" X 3/16" project with your MM210? I saw someone doing this yesterday (with a MM210) with amazingly good results. Then again, he's been welding for 18 years so he's had plenty of practice. And both...

I've had some fantasies along this route, but I keep coming back to the point that I could/can only weld "so" far with my different pieces and then I'm still going to have an awfully lot of "blank steel" with no weld holding it. And also, once I turn it down to the point that it's...

You're going to need a bottle adapter regardless, and that should take care of your preset pressures. You're still going to be doing some guess work on your HP gauge though....

Back your flow down to between 15 and 20. Push, don't pull. As Bob's link states, 5356 is much more prone to smut. Are you used to doing any sort of "weave" with your MIG welding to get nice looking beads? If so, be forewarned that the INSTANT you back up or cross over a hot-but-cooling weld...

I've run a *red* PrecisionTIG 185 off of both a 225 and a 250 for AC-GTAW of aluminum. The only problem I had was blowing the circuit (fuse) when dialing in AC above 130 Amps for extended periods of time. The new 225's are supposed to be outstanding and apparently don't have that problem anymore....

84Z and Bob Wright both gave you good info, although I'm pretty sure Bob meant to say that he loaded his MIG with 5356 as opposed to 4356.

A spoolgun is simply a very small MIG unit. Both a "regular" MIG gun AND a "spool gun" use two or more rollers to "push"...

    Bob,
What "variety" of steel did you use for these? You made them on your own lathe? What is "CR"? Chromoly? Which version? Are each of those a single piece or is the shaft through the middle welded to the rollers? GREAT info from you and Fun both!! I'm still sorting...

Everyone's given you good advice; dabar probably makes the most sense and obviously has the most experience since you guys don't live too far apart. However, if you're like me and you just prefer aluminum over steel, there are several routes you...
