That is what I was thinking IF all of the cups, gas lenses collets, etc swap over.
BUT, I found a site.. Millerwelds4less that has the 3 lines for about 120 bucks. that is not to bad. IF I want the red, blue colors, they are a little more.
It says they are true Miller parts.

I searched and found some threads. It ain't going anywhere. I am not a big time welder. I use it for fabricating. I probably weld under 40 hours a year... so it will be around a while.

300DX torch hose issues
So, I have a Miller Dynasty 300DX I bought as a package. I had a shop fire, and welder has sat for a couple of years. I fired it up and leaking water hoses. no big deal??
EXCEPT, the torch that came with the package is a diamondback torch. The only number I see on the torch is "20M"... -
Dynasty 300DX vs Dynasty 350
What is the difference besides 50 amps? I have a 300 DX. It still has good value. Is there ANY reason to step up to a 350? I don't need the extra 50 amps.

He would only say he used a lot of helium. He said about 50% mix. This made a bunch of heat. He had to mix bottles himself.
Without the AC he was losing cleaning abilty? He would not give the rod he used, though.

Welding alum manifolds and heads
OK, so most cylinder heads are 355 t6. If you weld them with 4043 it machines like crap. And is soft. Some guys use 5356. It machines well I am told.
One other guy said he welded alum without using ac and did not use either of these rods. He did a bunch of stuff for BAE, so must have come up... -
BTW... if you look at the back of the boat you see a black square behind the engine. That is the parachute. Look directly in line below that and you see a black piece with a shaft going forward. That is the strut.
SO, you can see it carries the boat weight plus a ton of side load. (from bottom...Leave a comment:

1) Tried ceriated tungsten. WOW. Big difference. LWS only had 3/32, but the 3/32 vs 3/32 was much better. Will order some 1/8" too.
2) Cleaned alum. This allowed me to turn up the balance.
3) Increased frequency. Uh... worked somewhat, still need to work with this.

I will step up on the tungsten diameter. I will also try the ceriated.
I thought 3/32 may be small. The tig calculator said that was ok. Makes sense it is rated for the balled end.
I was at a lower balance as the alum was slightly dirty. Really, this is a band aid on a problem. I should...Leave a comment:

Alum. welding info wanted
OK, I used to be a welding sob. 20 years ago. Mostly chromoly. I can lay a bead on steel, and fair alum bead, but not great. I am working on great alum beads...
I believe I have a setup issue causing my troubles.
I am butt welding .125 alum
I have a dynasty, 100% argon....
