Are you getting paid by the hour or by the job? If it was hourly I would not lose any sleep about it. The Boss has a choice, buy a decent welding machine or keep the one you have now and waste a lot of time.

My guess is the plates are bolted on because they are put on by dealers who don't employ skilled help, skilled as welders anyway. A lot less liability when you just drill and bolt on with factory supplied parts.
I've seen some pretty [email protected] stick welds, at least I thought so anyway. They...Last edited by wmgeorge; 09-23-2014, 05:22 PM.

Wei if they are running a "wild" return as using the ceiling space as the return they can get away without insulation. The problem with type of return, all the dirt and warm air above now has to be considered.
Are they also welding above the finished ceiling?

As a former HVAC commercial service and some installing I can safely say most of the stupid stuff I've seen done is by the type of people your employed by. Not a lot of thinking ahead. We had one job where the ceiling people were allowed to put the grid work in for the ceiling, before the sheet metal...

There are two separate gas inputs on the Multimatic 200 so you would have to disconnect the regulator and take off the Mig gas tank and switch to the Argon tank. Then swap the hose over to the other input.
It depends of course on how much TIGing your going to do, once a year or every ...

I taught at a local community college for 12 years before retirement. I can tell you the kids or at least 80% coming out of HS today do not have basic math skills we learned in grade school. A lot of them could not solve math problems... even using a calculator.
I just spent well over...Last edited by wmgeorge; 08-25-2014, 12:20 PM.

Good advice. What I would do and before spending $250 plus for a circuit board is disconnect from the power and examine both sides of the CB with your glasses on or a magnifying glass. IF there is a blown diode or other part you can usually see it cracked, burnt or otherwise. Find out what the specs...Last edited by wmgeorge; 08-25-2014, 08:24 AM.

So a professional welding shop or pipefitters turned the job down and your going to do it? How much experience do you have in welding stainless pipe let alone titanium do you have? If the weld fails what kind of bad thing will happen?...

TIG has a long learning curve, but can't you use it also as a stick welder? That way you have, MIG, TIG and Stick capability's. Just make sure its not 3 Phase.

Do you have the leads switched around so the torch is Negative and ground Positive?
Can you hear the gas solenoid kick in when you switch the remote on or use the...

So now you have someplace to start. If you can get a TIG arc in Lift then maybe it's a switch issue. Sounds like a call Miller time....
