Must have been a temp they hired for about an hour before being run off!

Well, it looks like I'll try giving Miller a call before I try running my Maxstar STL off of a regular generator. I'm not worried about the inverter generator, but I'm just a little leary of the 7500 watt genny. I can get 30 amps at 120V with the inverter, but I can get 240V with the 7500 watt genny....

Using a generator for a Maxstar
First time I've been on here in a long, long time and I've got a question. Would using a regular generator to power a Maxstar 150ST damage the electronics in any way? I've got a 7500W duel fuel generator that I would like to use but I also have a 2300W inverter that provides "clean" power...

Pretty sure they're part of the UA so they would be included in the Pipefitters, at least around here. Yeah, I've got a soft spot for all my Brothers....

Was this a strike for a better (new) contract or a "wildcat" which is an unauthorized strike, usually but not necessarily limited to a grievance?...

Sorry, I got in a hurry! I've got a couple of buddies in the Millwrights, didn't mean to give them the short end of the stick!

You have gotten some good advice here and quite a bit of bullsh1t too. I have belonged to the United Auto Workers, the United Mine Workers and have been a member of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers for the last 21 years.
I've worked non-union jobs before and as was said...

In a nutshell Rick, yes the trade unions would be interested in you especially if you already have good skills and background experience to offer. I came from a shop local before getting into a construction local. Signed up and got into the apprenticeship past the tender young age of 50. At the end...

MMW hit the nail on the head. The biggest factor is center of gravity. The lower, the more stable.

I'm just a dumb Boilermaker and not an electrician, so my thoughts are not worth the paper on which they're written. That said, piniongear, while you may be able to run everything in your house with 100 amp service with the the load stated, I would say that it's a pretty safe statement that you are...

Hobarts version of Miller's Econotig. Both companies are owned by ITW. Probably the same machine, just different paint and stickers. More or less aimed at the home DIY and hobbyist market. Don't think either one is still made.

Propylene is fine as long as you can get it. Very little difference from acetylene, not as much heat output. I've used acetylene, propylene, Mapp, propane and natural gas. I prefer acetylene, but use propane at home because of the cost and convenience.
PTsideshow, you were kidding...

I'm a little far away but maybe this will help get you started,http://www.millerwelds.com/resources...ur-skills/tig/.
I've had a Maxstar 150STL for about 4 1/2 years now. One sweet little welder, especially on 240. Should last you quite awhile! Good luck, Bob.
