Reviving an old thread. So for checking hertz, I insert the leads from my Fluke meter into the 2 slots (hot & neutral) on a receptacle? Or one slot (hot) and the ground?...

My shop is 35' x 50'. Most welding is done in the centre, but not always. Shop space isn't real tight, so I was thinking along the lines of a portable unit on wheels that I can move around. It won't get a lot of heavy use. The quiter, the better.

Fume extractor recommendation
I'm needing a fume extractor for the shop. Usually it's one guy welding 2"-48" pipe with SMAW, and the occasional aluminum MIG weld. What do you guys recommend?

Fume Extractor/Smoke Eater Recommendation
I'm looking for a fume extractor for my shop. Usually only one welder is burning pipe, with anywhere from 3/32" SMAW electrode up to 3/16", and occasionally aluminum is MIG welded. So what unit(s) have the best reputation? I like to buy things only once, and not regret my purchases so that's...

Depends on the engine and the oil rating it requires. I don't have the time right now, but read the owners manual for your welder and determine what rating it requires. Then, find a 0W-30 or 0W-40 diesel oil (diesel rated oils are usually C**), which also list the same SH, SJ or SL or whatever rating...

Don't use Amsoil Signature Series. Its a fantastic oil for automobiles, but not for small engines. Reason being that its a SN-rated oil which substitutes other lubricating elements rather than zinc, because zinc is not catalytic-converter friendly. Since these engines don't use catalytic-converters,...

inches to mm= multiply by 25.4
mm to inches= divide by 25.4
For most shop work, that is close enough.

My rig is an 04 F350 DRW 4x4 Crew Lariat V10. I bought it on ebay 2 years ago from the original owner in California. It had 29,000 miles, and was absolutely showroom condition when I flew down there to pick it up. Price? $12,900! It now has 73,000 Miles, and it has cost me ZERO in repairs. I do...
