Starting my own shop...any advice??

could try using a heat sink if at all possible....worked wonders for any thin stuff I've ever done!!!!

I have welded chrome-moloy and I've only ever used SST filler rod...Can't say that I've ever worked with ER80 whatever....I have welded chassis for race purposes but we used nickel-bronze and something else...can't remeber what it was.....Quaz

again thanks guys!!! my stellite seems to be workin out pretty good...although, we recently had a job that was stainless with stellite overlay.......it cracjed and there wasnt a good way for me to do it....even though the cracks didn't matter the custom was not pleased, so doom on me.....and advice...

Well dave, I've never had my own shop so I "have nothing"....as far as asking about what machines you guys recommend, I know that I don't know everything and would like outside unbiased input....Personally I'm a Miller man, but Lincoln Tig welders have often impressed me....most combination...

I have nothing....the demand would be decent considering the only other shops close by do only industrial steel...heavy stuff... so if I do aluminum and SST, I'd have my own little "market"....my knowledge is good...well versed in aluminum, SST, mild steels, high carbon steels, tooling steels,...
