need some help welding this.
The part is a mount for the hydraulic cylinders on my skid steer. High heat won't be a issues, I will be removing the cylinders while welding.

need some help welding this.
The one piece is 3/4", and the stuff I'm welding it to is 5/16", I'm not to bad at welding but have never welded anything this thick. Should i bevel out the sides of the thicker stuff? Should i do more then one pass?I'll be using my miller 251 with a 75/25 gas mix and a .035 wire. Any tips...

Perfect, that's just what I was looking for. The ideal way would be without the diagonals, so that's good to know. Should I be attaching the up rights to the floor joists above as well ? Once again thanks for all the help and info....

type of wood would be 2x4 - 2x10 that short of thing, wouldn't be anything flimsy.
the wood shop will be in a basment type area. So yes i can secure it to the floor joists above if need be. I would not be able to secure to the bottom concrete floor due to infloor heating....

What type of material should i use?
Putting together my new wood shop, and i need to build a wood rack. I'm thinking of bolting it to a inside block wall. So i can utilize the space under it to store my tools (planer, table saw) when I am not using them. I've searched for a while now looking for steel strenghts and haven't had much luck....Last edited by hit_em; 02-26-2012, 06:40 PM.

half the fun is making something up yourself. Just looking for a general idea on where to start. I was thinking some 1 1/2 angle iron for around the edges. then run some 1/4 " x 1 1/2 flat bar arcoss straight up and down, so when you are looking down you would just see the 1/4". DOes this...

need some expertise on makeing a shop drain grate.
like the title says, I built a new garage/shop, i put a drain in the floor near one of the big bay doors. the drain is 8' long by 14 1/2 " wide. the ledge around the hole is 1 1/2 high by a 1 1/2 wide. I'm unsure how to build this grate, there is going to be a fair amount of weight driving over...

it's all angles, and by the time i buy a decent vise, i might as well just bought a notcher. But if i cant find one in my area today im going to have to do it this way....

i need of a notcher.
Im just a DIY guy, dont need anything to fancy, kind of looking for one to go onto my drill press to notch some 1 1/4 steel pipe. what would you guys recomend?
ive seen a few different ones on the net, hard to tell the good stuff from the bad, and i can not seem to find anyone that sells...
