Anywhere from 9 up to 11 depending on your personal preference. If you weld for a bit and when you lift your hood it is as if you have been staring at the sun and you are seeing bright spots turn it up a little until you find one that works for you....

Edmonton work
Last week I was looking for work here in edmonton on monday and found a job in a shop by tuesday. There is still quite a bit of work around the city, mostly in Nisku. Rents are starting to drop here. My rent went down 150 /month since last year and I know there are a lot...

I'd bet my life on stick over mig any day, as long as it's done right.
Most carbon steel mig wire is 70,000 psi tensile, just the same as a 7018, but you just never know with mig...getting near the bottom of the tank or someone opens a door, blows away your gas..the weld might look fine on the...

I was in Lloydminster working for Boilermakers 146 3 years ago. They brought people in from Chile. I had just moved some 5000kms across the country to work there, had to pay my own plane ticket, stayed in the crappy mobile home the employer owned for $400 a month (for 1 bedroom out of 4), walked 45...

At work i turn up the radio louder than anyone else, but you have to be able to hear people around you...anything can happen. After the guy behind you almost breaks the valve off the acetylene cylinder, you dont want to lift up your lid and realize you are the only guy in the shop because everyone else...

I agree that you should just buy a mig.
I wouldnt bother trying with the 6011, but the 6013 should work. If i had a good fit-up everywhere (no gaps) i would just use a 7018..doesnt dig as much as 6011. Also, aim your rod mostly at the material you are welding to and let it flow over...

[QUOTE=dmk welding;160387]
I got on with a local company in July and did a 1.5 month long job for them in Edmonton for peanuts compared to what I made in alberta. What a friggin joke this Saskatoon welding company was...prime example of the old CHEAP rig welder from Sask that is stuck in 1988...
