Massive porosity on my starts. One mm bubble(or two) on surface, but nickle-size cluster underneath after grinding. Once every 4 rods. ESAB 5mm and 6mm, 7018.
About 1000" of piping production so far. 16" sch60.
Going to try Liquid Air. Don't know what else to do.

nitrogen purge
Nitrogen gas suggested as a purge for welding a stainless nozzle to heat exchanger. So I thought I would use nitrogen in my torch too. Doesn't work with torch at all. I got nervous and switched the purge to argon before I buggered the job. Rumor is if I keep the gap small and the arc doesn't get...

pimps
Don't let all these pimps fool you. People are entitled to everything they can get, just don't expect to get it where you are. Sit in the bush(keep your job) and stick your name out there. When you find what you want, go and never look back. Helps if you incorporate, but I won't...

torquing stainless steel bolts
Did a torque inspection on about 100 bolts today. All the carbon steel checked out ok. The stainless steel not so. Nearly all out of 30 or so were loose. This was obviously embarrasing for the boilermakers. Now they are tight because I watched them do it. Assuming they did it right the first time,...
