I checked the manual on their site, and it does indeed say the torch should be positive and the work negative.
Next time, buy American! Or at least get an american welding howto book and give it a read......

I'd make it about two feet shorter than the gun you're using. For a big machine like that, probably 10-12ft would be a good length. A little short ground is fine for a machine you can pick up with one hand, but for a big machine, you want the ground to reach to wherever the gun reaches....

My experience with welders on generators is to work out the maximum power, power factor, etc, like above.... and then double it....

Those should work. I probably would have gone for a generic silicon diode with a higher voltage rating instead of a schottky, but I don't see any specific problem with using one there....

For heavy wire online, I usually use "acdcwireandsupply" on ebay. Your local welding supply place should also carry it, as will most battery supply places (when not ordering online, I get mine from interstate battery), some auto electric places, etc.

Apply 12V to your solenoid to test it; no reason to replace it if it's not bad.
I'm not familiar with the idle/hour meter setup on that model (I've only worked on older ones with a separate idle board), and the owner's manual is remarkably useless, so I can't help with the wiring....

Before troubleshooting the electrical, manually pull in the linkage attached to the solenoid on the carb, and see if that idles it down. If it pulls itself in when you start to move it, or the linkage is stiff or doesn't work, you have a (usually easy) mechanical issue.
To answer questions...

You'll need a welder with a 14 pin plug that provides 24v. I think almost all of them with 14 pin plugs do, with the exception of some dynastys. For testing, you could also just provide 24v straight to the unit, per the wiring diagram, but that won't test contactor control and such....

I've seen people on youtube attempt to injure, maim, or kill themselves in a wide variety of fashions.
I knew someone who insisted they didn't need proper eye protection when plasma cutting. A trip to the ER after their eyes swelled up, and a week to think about it, they decided otherwise....Last edited by Bushytails; 02-17-2021, 10:46 AM.

I don't think that gasket could cause the crankcase to be pressurized. Since you have pressure under the oil cap even after stopping the engine, the vent lines are completely blocked. Have you tried the suggestion in the thread linked above and packing insulation where it will keep cold air off the...

If you fed it HF and only lost the gas control, count yourself lucky!
I think I see the real problem here. You have a dynasty 280 with CV. I'll take it and trade you a dynasty 300DX instead. Since it doesn't have CV, you won't be tempted to connect the feeder to it, so you won't have...
