flux core question?

I don't normally use 1/16" often, however with .045" I generally keep a verticle weave limmited to 3/4" for structural welds. If the joint design requires more weld across the face, I use overlapping weaves or just use stringers.

i use the stuff for most of my weldig and dont go more than 3/8 on width of bead. i run it about 25 volts or higher, and pretty quick wire speed. most of my welding is on structural steel.

I guess it depends on how "wide" your thumb is. It could be 5/8" wide, or 1/3/16". Your question stumbles me at the vert. flat part. Running vertical weave as opposed to vertical stringers has differnt parameters. For flat, the same thing, but not the same as vertical.
