I just recently got my aws d1.1 certification and was told that i need to keep a log in order to keep up my certification. Is there any log books that you can buy (like a CDL log book), or does anyone have a form that they use I could see to get a idea of what it should look like. Thank You

C level, Province of BC. You receive a log book when you complete the first level, then it is used to document all other levels, certs, and job experience.
I would take a picture of it however my wife has it stashed somewhere safe that I don't know about.Jonny

I got a log book when I started my ASAP program, Is my log book the same as the one your guys have? I'm from Canada Johnny your is a black book mine is white with a read seal logo on the front of the book and says Welders Log book and my name? I think mine is just for the skills I must complete before I get my red seal. What would yours be used for the same thing but a different ticket?Last edited by youngwelder_154; 03-06-2007, 07:51 AM.Thanks for reading I hope my post helped

Your log book is most likely the same as mine, just a different color. The book should explain what its uses are. My book was issued to me when I completed my C level in BC, and has a passport photo of me with a seal stamped into it on the second page. From there on, it is used to record schooling, all certifications, and job experience. The only certs it doesn't cover is CWB, so I staple my CWB tickets onto a page in the back of the book.
BTW, its green, not black Not very clear in the photo. Because my log book was issued before elligabillity for Red Seal, the seal stamp goes inside the book.Last edited by JonnyTIG; 03-06-2007, 10:50 PM.Jonny

I was told by my instructor just to keep a journal, pics would be beneficial as well!!! Look at Jonny's book and make up something similar. Add a passport photo to make it look more official. I would (haven't started yet, though I need to!) just make a table in Microsoft Word that has things for initials, signatures, what rod, position, thickness and material, gas, wire, etc. would be nice to have a part for photos, but that can go on the next few pages if you wish. *Note: More professional if it's a bound book and not one made from a 3 ring binder. Dates you enter is important, and with a bound book they figure it's not as "made up" as loose papers in a 3-ring binder. Hawaii, our cert is good for 3 months. You always have to weld something within that period to stay current. Per most jobs in construction over here, they don't care if you have your license up to date or not. they'll still x-ray it! I had a job for a day I had to grind off some welds and take down a small beam that this "licensed" old timer Journeyman did, never seen so much pukas (huge porosity) in my life!!!
bertI'm not late...
I'm just on Hawaiian Time
