Just take your time think things through and you'll be fine.
In BC you have to go through an interview phase with the welding instructor
I dont know about down there.never the less good luck

Today I passed it in when I got to the college I ended up talking to the top dog at the college and he took me to the place to sign up but then they sent me to a building down the street and the weather was very crappy i was wearing my old school chuck taylors and they where soaked but when I got to the building they let me use the phone I needed to call the instructer he had me up for a half day I got to weld with the boys and he told me to come up when ver I like and jsut be a part of the class he enjoys having me there so I guess if there was a interview I already got in I sold myself to him this year I talked to him since I was in grade 10 so im very confident ill be in but I should never count my chickens before they hatch. thanks for your thoughts triggerman

          good luck

Hey i go to Greenville tech here in sc, and u dont really have to have anything to get in the welding program. He told us at one time they would rather u have no experience? its fun though, a little tough but i would not trade it for the world. our instructors come from flour, and one is a pipe welder at GE third shift. so the very best of luck to you and hang with it. dont give up

Are you taking shop in school? Because that will help you when you go to trade school.O ya by the way in trade school over there is it modular block step program? There is a different type of program if you read welding in Alberta on the motorsports Form and question coalsmoke about this he should have some answers for ya about the apprentiship program I dont know if where you live if you have the A B C levels or if it is just BC.Anyway check it out okay.Better to get started eary so you know what direction you want to go in life eh.O ya 5 months left to go with high school you must be happy about that?

Ohh you ment shop classes, I took the only welding course our school offered I finished that with a 81%. I also took a couple automotive courses. I welded in all of them. Im not sure how BC does it but we have jsut a ASAP program for youth trying to get into the trade. I am very happy only having a few months left in high school But for us we have a block release thing we do we spend 6 weeks in shop and 6 weeks out (I amnot 100% if thats the exact time but im almost positive). Or we have a choice we can just go out on the job and do a block release and jsut go back to write tests.

In BC we have welder training levels C , B , A. we also have an apprentiship program as well you are probably more familar with that one where you go to school for 6 weeks then back on the job for 1 year or 1560 hours.I can show you a picture of what training I took I did the C B A levels. You should find out how the system works out there as for welder training. Let me know what you find out ok I'm kinda interisted how it works in P E I.

A few pointers.. When I retired from the Lubbock Tx Fire Dept. after 28.5 years, I enrolled in the Welding Technology Course at South Plains College, Levelland Tx. At the age of 54 and starting back to college again..The students there were youre age. I had a blast. We were graded in Lab work on a system from 1-5 1 and 2 do your topic again, 3 was minimuim but passing ,4 was very good and 5 perfect.. I got 4's and 5's because I would not settle for less..Sometimes I had to do a topic over and over for the 4-5. Some students took 3's because minimum suited them. They just cheated therselves. Dont settle for the middle of the road, go for the best, youre doing youreself a tremendous favor. We had to all the AWS projects on Torch, Stick, Mig and Tig . All the bend tests etc. In 2 years when I graduated I had made the Deans List and the Presidents list every semester.
You have dreamed it...Now go get it.
                            Im proud of you.

Thank you for the comments Cowbungus. I really am going to do my best I wont settle for anything less then that. Thats really the only way I see it. If you cant do something perfect you just have to keep on practicing until you do it. I still dont think my stick welding is all that good. on a flat serfact I find it hard to make a perfect straight weld. I need to make a line and follow it. I guess thats really the only way to do it. I havent tryied it yet but I will. Honistly the things you guys say to me modavates me to do better. I dont like to hear that stuff from my parents because they really dont know what i am doing. I love them very much but it jsut seems my mom isnt all 100% happy about me being a welder she acts it but in some ways she really makes it seem like she isnt. My dad really means alot to me he is getting up there in the numbers sometimes he really dont seem like hes totally with it but I love him he is really my insperation to get through highschool and do something with myself. He never got his grade 12 and hes working is *** off right now jsut to keep us all living in this house. He really is the one person who ic an really say is my hero.
