hello, and i apologize in advance for any stupid questions i may ask in the future. i am a TIG newbie, santa brought me a 200dx and coolmate3 for christmas. this is an upgrade from my old AIRCO 200 MCM heliwelder, i used for AC arc only. (BTW if anyone has any manuals etc for this machine i would be in your debt) anyway....not getting rid of the old airco...it is so durn cute..and fun to weld with. back to the 200dx, what a machine..i have not ever TIG welded before, or had a lesson, and i seem to be doing ok. having done a fair amout of brazing it took some time to forget my habit of waving the torch when forming the pool or moving it...anyway. thats all for my intro..stupid questions to follow

i really dont know any questions to ask at this point..i have been using the settings in the manual for steel..and have been doin ok. most of my issues at present is the technique of TIG welding. getting the right speed, amout of filler, when to add more or less heat, how to get an edge started...and even worse..ended without gouging..then i will start with 200dx questions! i have to say, the welds, even with my difficulties look pretty durn good. i think that is more a function of the machine than me.
pat..if his machine is similar to mine..i would love for you to check..bunch of aircos out there..and this one i cant find much on...you are right it is the size of a small car...but it is silent. just flick it on..(and cept for a very faint hum..that you have to really listen for) just weld away.
thanks for the offers of help guys, i appreciate it

congrats on the 200Dx's guys. great lil TIG units you should have a great time with them. dont worry so much about all the extrase for now you will get to them later, i still just stick to the basics with my TA-185 (no $$ for the dyn. and santa dosent like me that much i guess) but have had great luck on steel, SS, and aluminum
getting it all pretty just takes time, no short cuts there.
            thanks for the help
            ......or..........
            hope i helped
