Hey, shady...where abouts are ya? I'm near San Antonio myself. Welcome to the board.

Myself, I'd go with a Bobus 250 just based on output and sound level as well. If you really want a good machine, see if you can step up to the Trailblazer 302. I just recently went to the TB from a Bobcat 225G. The arc quality is like night and day. Lots more room to grow as regards TIG, MIG feeders and the like. But if stick is all you do, the TB has a variable dig feature that is great. It lets you tailor the arc for the job at hand.

If you don't want to spend more on the TB, I would get the 250. It is much quieter than the 225. (fwiw, it has the same engines and noise level as the TB302) At full tilt, the 250 and TB are not as loud as my 225G is at idle! That was worth it, IMO. The generator design is simple and easy to fix down the road. You do get some interaction between the generator and weld side. You won't have full power while welding. You rpower available will be based on how much weld current you are using. The TB has two generators..one for weld and the other for the AC power...no interaction at all.

As you can see, I lean to the TB bigtime...but there is nothing wrong with the Bobcat..either. They will get the job done. My money would be on the 250 over the 225, though.

    WHICH TO BUY?
BOBCAT 225 OR 250, I WILL BE DOING GENERAL FIELD REPAIR ON CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT, KOHLER OR ROBIN. I SEE THAT FOR 2007 MILLER CAME OUT WITH THE 23 HP KOHLER SOUNDS GOOD TO ME.
