We have been fighting Riverside County, California Child Protective Services for custody of our grandson since February when we found out about him. He was taken from our daughter at birth b/c she's a druggie and placed in a foster home. The casworker at CPS has fought us at every step and swore he would never let us have him. So far we have spent over $25K on lawyers, travel, etc. We've had to become licensed by TX as full foster parents (not usually required but we were forced by the way the worker in Riverside filed the paperwork), which we just barely completed in time the the hearing this week.

It all comes down to a trial this Wednesday when the Judge will make a final decision. We need everybody's thoughts and prayers that the court will act in our grandson's best interests and place him here with us.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Thank y'all again for the kind words.....

There will be no appeal. Doing so would push the matter into a higher court where the appeals process could easily drag on for years and impact Shane a lot more. It would also be very expensive. We've spent over $25K this year and it has taken every extra buck we could scrape together and loaded up our credit cards.

We are accepting the ruling as is. The one good thing to come out of the court is the foster parents are being required to enter into a contract with us to establish access and visitation much like a non-custodial parent in a divorce would have.

    Thank you all,
    Ben and Rachel

    Our prayers join the others!

Family should trump the state at every turn, I don't understand how we got here. Family in almost every instance is a better alternative! You are fighting the good fight!

realy sorry to here the outcome.
so much for the system doing the right thing. CPS has never been on my list of people that have a clue. seems to be filled with the wrong people for the job. if a family member is able and willing they should be the first option.
you could always have the foster parents wacked. did i say that out loude.

    Thank you everyone

Thanks to everyone for your kind thoughts and prayers. The trial was held this morning and we lost. The judge ruled the foster parents get to keep our grandson and adopt him.

I'm not much of a praying person, but I sure will make an exception for this one. That's a real cute grandson you got there.
