I was impressed as to how clean mine was. I super cleaned it after cutting it apart.

Both nice repairs. Slick, just plop a second skin on it and weld all around. Much easier and faster than cutting the pitted bottom off first.

Thought i was going around the bung in one pull but got caught or started to burn thru and had to whip a little. The top of this one was rusted. I went to fix the fuel gage and rut rowe,,,poked a hole in it. I would have saved a little greif reading the manual first as to draining the tank and a couple of the bolts were a challenge to remove.

About half way through ran out of 3/32 tig rods so I take two 1/16 rods, clamp in vice, other end in drill and twist em. This gives you plenty of filler instead of trying to finish using 1/16. Had two spots with porosity that were easily ground out and fixed. I tacked about every four inches and then welded 12 inches then skipped 24. This way the heat was more even around the tank. After going around three times like that it was all welded.

    started a topic Transfer tank

    Transfer tank

Time for another tank. L shape transfer tank used for diesel fuel. Whole bottom is extremely pitted, leaks repaired in the past with epoxy stuff. Did not think I could do it cheap enough by cutting off the bottom and replacing so just plated over the whole bottom. Used 1/8 steel and tigged it. Pic 1 tank, pic 2 pitted bottom, pic 3 plate ready to tack, pic 4 start welding.
