Afternoon,
I am making a carburetor bonnet for my low clearance tractor hood. Using things from the scrap pile I came up with a plan. The ring is .080" galvanised fuel tank strap. I flattened out one end of a 2 1/4" .050" wall fence post for the air inlet. The base is some kind of cast metal and the lid is chrome. I have 1/16" 6013 sticks and can weld down to 50 amps. I also have some Forney 48490 3/32" flux coated brazing rods and 1/8" flat 48571 brazing rods.
What would you recomend to a fella who isn't the best at either method?
Would brazing be a good idea to fuse the bonnet base, lid and ring together or should I just make a couple of gaskets?
Thank's,
