  • Engine swap big 40

I have a big 40 with the continental redseal f163 engine. Like others ive read about on this site my big 40 was a victim of rain water down the exhaust. Ive recently found an onan 24hp V type engine. I noticed the output shaft on the onan is one inch. Does anybody have experience with engine swaps ? More specifically, what can i swap out the continental with that wont be a major custom ordeal. Any feedback is much appreciated.

The F-163 engine works at about 1500 to 1800 rpm and the Onan works at 3600 to 3800 rpm.
it would be less $$ to get the F-163 repaired. There are many of those F-162 and F-163 that have been unstuck and repaired and worked for many years.

I agree! It would much less headache and money to rebuild the engine you have than to try and retrofit another different type engine to it!
