Was asked to help rebuild an access ramp for a local canoe club.

Original wood ramp had been washed away in a storm last year.
Not much was left to give ideas for a new one.
The old ramp was hinged at the top end so the lower end could rise and fall with river levels.

A big concrete block with 2 pieces of 2" IPS pipe served as the hinges.
Doesn't look it but the block is securely attached to the foundation.

The ramp is used for canoe and kayak access to the river so it will only see foot traffic.
Made up 2 new brackets to hold 2 x 8 pressure treated lumber for the
rails and used the old pipes for a hinge.

Used 1/4" stainless plate for the brackets.
3" x 3" x 1/4" alum angle was used to connect the side rails to cross members.
1/2" bolts for all connections and 5/4" pressure treated decking.

Was asked why I used stainless and said I hate call-backs and that by the time it needs replacement,
I'll be long gone and it will be someone else's problem.
