In a similar vein, my first thought was to round off those bottom shelf corners and glue a slit rubber hose around its entire edge.

My first welding project - the table

The first thing I needed was a welding table. I kept my eye open hoping to run across scrap to use and came across six 5’ lengths of 2.5” diameter steel pipe. Eventually, I found a deal on a 4’X4’ ¼” thick steel plate and decided to start.
I bought a few right angle magnets on Amazon, and was dismayed when they didn’t stick to the pipe. Stainless. Crap. Will they weld to steel??
this all helps show just how inexperienced I am.
Buddy of mine told me to weld them just like they were steel using regular steel filler and it turned out pretty nice. Laid a level on the top when done, and it was right on the bubble.
Now I just gotta put a vise on it.

Thinkin about cutting some knee room into the lower shelf so I can sit more comfortably with the foot pedal, but so far it’s the most useful object in my shop. Click image for larger version
